
Thomas Wenzel
Managing Director
Thomas Wenzel's experience in merchant shipping began in 1985 with an internship at Ivaran Lines, New York, which was followed by a 2.5-year trainee program with the Detjen shipping company in Hamburg. During these three years he was exposed to all relevant fields of shipping such as ship management, brokerage, finance and structuring.
In order to complement his non-vessel-specific know-how, in 1988 he began a parallel law studies in Hamburg in 1988, specializing in commercial law, and was admitted to the bar in 1996. During his studies, he was regularly employed by Detjen Reederei and its successor companies as well as accompanied its liner activities in the Far East and Africa.
In 2004, together with Olaf Pankow, he founded his own company Ownership and manifested his know-how by making the Ownership Group one of the most successful start-ups in the KG market. As early as 2005, the group made the leap into the top ten and raised around € 120 million in equity capital in 2007, its all-time high. As a result, the group was expanded to 40 employees in three subsidiaries. As a result of various challenges in the shipping market, he specialized in the management of shipping companies, the restructuring of financing structures and the focus on institutional, international investors.

Jörg Krüger
Director
Jörg Krüger worked in tramp-shipping in various position covering different ship management areas. After an internship with a London shipbroker, he did a 2-year trainee program with a Hamburg based tramp-shipping owner before studying Business Economics in Hamburg with the main focus on business law and commercial tax management. Thereafter he joined the family-owned shipping company and since 2003 assisted a few shipping companies in setting up branch offices in Hamburg and financing a fleet of dry-cargo ships and tankers. Between 2014-2020 he managed all commercial areas in a Bremen based ship management company operating a fleet of MPV- and container vessels, before joining Ownership in 2021.

Thomas Bindseil
Business Development
Thomas Bindseil started his shipping career in 2007 as Group Treasurer with one of the leading Asset Managers in Hamburg. In 2011 he moved to Braemar Corporate Finance as Managing Director and held management mandates as Restructuring Officer in various Shipping companies. In 2014 Thomas was appointed as Managing Director of a holding company, which operated 14 Bulker and Product-Tankers for a US Private Equity fund and a leading UK Tanker Operator and was responsible for all relevant aspects of a shipping company, e.g., technical-, commercial, finance- and risk management. In 2022 Thomas joined Ownership.

Christoph Liebig
Financial Analyst
Christoph Liebig studied economic science at the University of Bremen. He then worked for 7 years in auditing and tax consulting with a focus on shipping investments and real estate funds in Hamburg and Berlin. Since 2007 he has been active as a developer of aircraft, ship and real estate funds in Dortmund. In 2012, he returned to Hamburg and joined the company Ownership – directing his focus on managing, structuring, and restructuring investments within the shipping industry.

Faramarz Touman
Technical Manager
Faramarz Touman is a Master Mariner. He started his career at sea in 1984 after attending a 3 months induction course in Hogere Zeevaartschool in Antwerp/ Belgium. He sailed till 2001 in various positions onboard Bulk carriers, Multi-purpose/ Heavy lift vessels and container ships. Since 2001 he moved ashore and took various roles in technical and commercial shipping, mostly as Fleet Manager. He has been consulting various ship owners/ investors and asset managers for their fleet management and controlling their operational and technical challenges with a very successful track record in handling claims and disputes.
In 2011 he also received his MSc in Maritime operations from John Moore’s university of Liverpool. He joined Ownership in 2021.

Valeria Khachatryan

About Valeria Khachatryan
Valeria Khachatryan has studied Business Management and Finance at the Warsaw University, graduating with highest score in Central-Eastern Europe and obtaining 3 crowns. Following, she gained experience in the fields of sales in the automotive industry. Apart from that, she completed her audit internship at Ernst & Young. Next step for her oscillated around finance and business forecast in a family-owned company. Right before joining Ownership in 2022, Valeria worked at a Notary in Hamburg while getting certified with fifth spoken language.

Moritz Jung
Junior Analyst
Moritz Jung started his 2,5-year trainee program at the Peter Döhle Schiffahrts KG in 2018. In the program he went through the Shipping departments such as Operating, Chartering, Accounting and Crewing. After finishing his trainee program, he started studying Business at the University of Business and Economics Vienna, specializing in International Business. In 2022 he joined Ownership as a working student.

Nicolas Wenzel
Junior Analyst
Nicolas Wenzel started his career in a 2,5-year software developer trainee program at the Basler Lebensversicherungs AG in 2018.
In the program he went through multiple departments, using different programming languages working in Agile projects.
After finishing his trainee program, he continued working as a developer mainly focusing on web development for another year until he started studying Business Informatics at the HAW Hamburg in 2022.
Before joining Ownership in 2023, he worked as a working student at Elbwalker, a small start-up located in Hamburg.

Monja Walter
Office Administrator
Monja Walter started her shipping journey with a trainee program on a Shipyard in Bremerhaven. After that, in 2004 she joined the Ownership Group acquiring various positions and managing the administrative tasks.
